£1,160 raised for Crohns and Colitis charity

Drew and Margaret Montgomery held a coffee day at their Ballyhampton Road home in aid of Crohns and Colitis UK (NI), an organisation that offers support to people affected by inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).

The couple decided to host the charity event in honour of a member of their family who suffers from an IBD.

Crohns and Colitis last a lifetime and there is no cure. They can strike at any age but most commonly begin in children, teenagers and young adults. Around 240,000 people in the UK have these conditions and more are diagnosed each year.

Symptoms can include relentless diarrhoea, bleeding, severe pain, exhaustion, eye, skin and joint problems, and, in the case of children, impaired growth. The conditions can therefore have a devastating impact on education, work, social and family life.
