£120k spent teaching inametes how to sculpt, paint and draw

THE Prison Service (NIPS) spent over £100,000 teaching prisoners at HMP Magilligan how to draw, paint and sculpt over the past three years.

The cost of providing art teachers at the County Londonderry jail dipped from 43,076 in 2008 to 38,412 in 2009 to 39,384 in 2010. The total cost was 120,872 up to and including November 2010.

Craft, leatherwork and pottery were amongst the art forms taught at the jail.
