£135,000 road scheme to begin

Work on a £135,000 road improvement scheme is set to begin on the Moira Road, Upper Ballinderry next Monday, October 6.

The work will include resurfacing close to the Lough Road and is expected to be completed by Sunday, November 2.

Whilst the Department’s resource budget for activities such as routine maintenance is severely reduced, funding for this scheme is from the capital budget for major projects and new road schemes which is less affected by the current pressures.

“This scheme will deliver long term improvements for everyone in Lisburn with road users in particular being among the first to directly benefit from the investment,” said the Minister Danny Kennedy.

Work will take place daily between 9.30am and 4.00pm. To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to close one lane. Traffic management will be in operation on the site.

Full closures from 6am to 6pm on Sundays will be necessary and well signposted diversions will be in operation.

Transport NI has carefully planned the improvements, works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience to road users, however, drivers should expect delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.

The planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Transport NI will advise of any revisions.
