£15,000 worth of drugs seized in Loughguile

The seizure took place last Tuesday, January 7th.

The drugs were taken away by police for examination but are believed to be an estimated £5,000 worth of cannabis resin and £10,000 of amphetamines.

Detective Chief Inspector Bob Blemmings: “The drugs find comes as a disruption to dealers whose sole motivation is to make money at the expense of the health and well being of other people.

“Tackling drug dealers is a priority for police and disrupting dealers in any way is a positive.

“We are continually running proactive operations against drug dealers but in this instance the drugs find was down to good fortune and assistance from the community.”

DCI Blemmings continued: “Community support in tackling drugs dealers is vital.

“I would ask the public to continue to assist us by reporting anything they know or suspect in relating to drug dealing.”

Moyle police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol following an road traffic collision on the Leyland Road, Ballycastle in the early hours of Monday, 13 January. Police were called after a car hit a lamp post in the area and was abandoned.

The man was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are investigating a suspected break in at a garage on the Glenshesk Road sometime between 8pm on Thursday, January 9th and 9am on Friday, 10th January.

It is believed that a small sum of cash and cheques were taken during the incident.

Police searched a house in the Caman area of Friday 10 January, under the Misuse of Drugs Act. No one was arrested at the house but police seized three mobile phones for further examination.
