£1.5m investment in drugs welcome
DUP MLA Gary Middleton says a £1.5m investment in new specialist drugs by the Department of Health will lead to greater access to life improving and potentially lifesaving treatments for people in Londonderry.
“This is a very welcome announcement which will ensure that Northern Ireland patients have greater access to life improving and potentially lifesaving treatments. My colleagues and I have lobbied the health minister on many occasions on behalf of constituents who could not access the drugs which are currently available and funded by the NHS in England.
“There have been many organisations who have campaigned long and hard for these drugs to be available in Northern Ireland. The £1.5million in funding will no doubt ease pressures on access to NICE-approved drugs,” he said.
