£1.7m spent paying off teachers
ALMOST £2m has been spent paying off teachers in the Western Education and Library Board (WELB) over the past three years with a huge increase reported last year, the Education Minister John O’Dowd has revealed.
The total amount spent on redundancies in the WELB area leapt from £368,727.62 in 2010/11 to £1,194,274.56 in 2011/12.
Over the past three years £1,770,641.41 was spent paying off local teachers in WELB.
