Preliminary work began this week, with two way traffic movement being maintained.

On completion of the preliminary works a temporary one-way system will be introduced to allow the excavation and reconstruction of the street.

Danny Kennedy said: “This £200,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure within Saintfield.

“Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface on Main Street.”

Transport NI aims to keep disruptions to a minimum, however, delays should be expected.

Drivers are asked to be patient and allow additional time when planning journeys in the area whilst the road improvements are being carried out.

With all work of this nature unforeseen circumstances can impact on the completion date. Transport NI will advise the public of any unexpected change to the schedule.
