It is awarded through the Power Academy Scholarship Scheme, which is a UK wide scheme open to students of electrical and electronic engineering at 7 UK universities, including Queen’s University.

Peter, a past pupil of Ballymena Academy who is in the third year of his studies, will be heading off soon to work for BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria for the summer.

Commenting on the scholarship, Peter said: “It is great to not only get financial support during my studies but also to have the opportunity to put the theory I learn in the degree into practice, through summer work placements with the Company.”

Professor Stan Scott, Head of the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queens said: “I should like to congratulate Peter on receiving this scholarship and wish him all the best in his future career as an electrical and electronics engineer. I am confident Peter will benefit greatly from working there each summer during his degree studies.”
