£2.6 million watermains investment for Ballymena and Randalstown

Work will commence this month and will continue until May 2013.

However, work that will take place in town centre areas will comply with the Roads Service Christmas embargo and there will be a break in the work in town centre areas from the end of November until January.

A lot of the current watermains in these areas are ageing and in poor condition and require urgent upgrading.

The work is good news for the local areas, as the upgraded watermains will improve the reliability of water supply, drinking water quality and will also help reduce leakage.

It will also reduce the number of bursts, particularly over the winter months and will improve the general infrastructure in the Ballymena and Randalstown areas.

NI Water and its contractor, Farrans Construction, would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation, and would like to assure customers that they will do everything possible to complete the work as quickly as possible with minimum disruption.
