Danny Kennedy said: “This scheme will provide around 1km of cycle and footways. It will bring particular benefits to cyclists and pedestrian by linking the hamlets of Ben Vista and Rockend, including the local St Anne’s Primary School in Corkey.

“I am committed to developing a cycling culture in Northern Ireland where people will have a choice on how they travel, how they get to work, how they get to the shops and how they spend some of their leisure time. This investment will enhance that opportunity for the local community in Corkey and Loughgiel, and in the surrounding area.”

The scheme is expected to be complete by mid-March 2015.

As with all schemes of this type the scheduled dates are subject to favourable weather conditions.

Transport NI has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however, drivers should be aware that a four week road closure and diversion will be necessary from Monday 2 February.
