£29,000 fundingboost for Doagh hall

A Newtownabbey community hall has secured a £29,630 grant from Biffa Award - a multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK.

The village community and playgroup facility project, led by Doagh Cultural Society Limited, was awarded funding under Biffa Award’s Recreation theme and set out to expand the limited facilities available at the community hall.

Works included the installation of decking and seating areas, raised beds and landscaping as well a play area for children and young people’s activities.

Robert Adams, chairperson of Doagh Village Partnership, said:“The recent enhancement made to Doagh community hall, through Biffa Award funding, has greatly improved local access to excellent community facilities in the area.”

Gillian French, Biffa Award Programme Manager, said the Doagh project will also act as a base for additional activities for current and future user groups.
