£300,000 pilot scheme creates new jobs

A unique £300,000 programme can help young people in Lisburn by providing much-needed jobs, while boosting the skills of social enterprise businesses.

The Advance Programme, the first of its kind in the UK, is targeting Northern Ireland’s ‘Neets’, - young people not in employment, education or training - with the twin aims of getting them into fulfilling careers and helping the social enterprise sector.

The programme will give 40 young people aged between 18 and 26, the opportunity of 24 weeks’ paid employment in a range of social enterprises throughout Northern Ireland with the goal of transforming these short term posts into permanent jobs.
