The work will upgrade the high and low voltage electricity cables in the town centre and also facilitate the upcoming Public Realm Scheme. It is expected that NIE’s work will be completed by the end of the year.

The upgrade project will initially focus on Main Street and NIE will contact all properties in the affected areas to make them aware the work is being carried out.

Natasha Nicholl, NIE Customer Relations Manager for the area, said: “The work will not only improve Larne’s electricity networks for the future; undergrounding some of the overhead lines in the town centre will help enhance the appeal of one of Northern Ireland’s busiest ports.”
