£35k cannabis plant seizure in Bushmills

Police have recovered cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £35,000 from a house in Bushmills.

And the local PSNI Commander said the seizure represented their “commitment to removing any type of drugs from circulation”.

Moyle police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of a number of drugs offences following the search of a house in the Oldtown Road area of Bushmills in the early hours of last Thursday (February 6th).

The police were called to the house after reports of suspicious activity and, following a search, uncovered a large number of suspected cannabis plants with an approximate value of over £35,000.

The plants along with other items in the property were seized. The man remains in custody helping police with their enquiries.

Moyle PSNI Commander Brenda Cairns commented on the find: “Local officers have been working with the community to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution.

“There can be no place for illegal drugs in safe societies. The seizure of these suspected drugs is an indication of our commitment to removing any type of drugs from circulation. Through seizures of this kind, we are reducing the harm that is caused to the community.
