£4k grants for upcoming events

LARNE Council has committed almost £4,400 to help fund a range of upcoming community events in the borough.

Cairncastle LOL Community and Cultural Group was awarded £1793 towards its annual Burns Night and St Patrick’s night celebrations.

The pair of events, which will take place at Larne Glasgow Rangers Club and the Halfway House respectively, are expected to attract 400 people and cost the group £4,093, with an expected income of £2,300.

A total of £2,100 was also awarded for the Larne Drama Festival, which is due to be held from March 19-23 and draw in about 950 visitors. The five-day festival will cost over £6,000 and has a projected income of £4,000.

Finally, Craigyhill Community Group has been allocated £500 for its Family Fun Christmas event.

The group had initially requested a grant of £1,000 for the project, which will cost £1,765 and bring in £750.
