£4k worth of damage as lead stolen

FOUR thousand pounds worth of damage was caused to a building site in Londonderry after a quantity of lead was stolen.

Police in Londonderry are appealing for information following the report of an incident at a building site in the Blighs Lane area on Thursday, September 8.

At approximately 10.25pm police received a report of several people trespassing on the site. It was discovered that an amount of lead had been stolen from the site and approximately £4000 worth of damage caused. A 15 year old male was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft a short time later. Two other youths are believed to have been present at the site.

The 15 year old was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who observed people on the site or making off from the area around this time to contact them at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000.
