£500k spent on chaplains

THE Western Trust spent half-a-million pounds on chaplaincy services over the past three years, the largest expenditure outside Belfast.

The total expenditure was £512,856 falling from £186,758 in 2008/9 to £166,118 in 2009/10 to £159,980 in 2010/11.

Health Minister Edwin Poots outlined the expenditure in response to an Assembly Question and said the costs relate to salaries and wages, travel expenses, hospitality, goods and services.
