£6,000 of drugs found in Lisburn house after arrest

Suspected cannabis plants worth an estimated street value of £6,000 were recovered from premises at Ashlea Place in Lisburn this week after police carried out a search, following the arrest of a man on the Springfield Road on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old male was arrested and charged with cultivating Cannabis and possession of Class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

Sergeant Davy Byrne urged the community to help them to continue to tackle drugs issues.

He said, “Drugs misuse is an issue of concern to all communities.

“This charge and drugs search shows that we continue to work hard to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution. “I am glad to have taken these drugs out of circulation but would continue to encourage the community to work with us.

“If you have any information on the illegal sale or use of drugs in your area please call Police on the non-emergency number 101.

“If you would prefer to provide information without giving your details, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The 40 year old man is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 October. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
