£7.7m has been spent on NE peace building North East

The Programme came to a close at a special Celebration Event in the Royal Court Hotel, Portrush, hosted by TV presenter, Paul Clark.

The North East PEACE III Programme engaged 3,501 people from all ages, backgrounds and throughout the cluster which stretches from Larne, through to the Ballymena, Moyle, Ballymoney, Coleraine and the Limavady Council areas.

The Celebration Event was a huge success with many different elements reflecting the diversity of the projects involved. The conference heard from youngsters involved in the Young People’s Peer Leadership Project, as well as pupils from Castle Tower and Sandelford Special Needs Schools who took part in the Schools Based Project.

Addressing the audience at the Celebration Event, Patricia O’Brien. PEACE III Manager, said: “The real legacy of this Programme is you! Peace building will continue in the North East because of you, because of the learning you acquired, the relationships and friendships you developed, and the commitment you have made to continue on the peacebuilding path.”
