£800k plus spent on relations projects

MORE money has been spent promoting co-operation and mutual respect between Protestants and Catholics in Londonderry over the past three years than anywhere bar Belfast.

A total of £881,334 in funding from the Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) has been rolled out in Londonderry between 2008/9 and 2010/11.

The funding was made available through the District Council Community Relations Programme rising from £239,291 in 2008/9 to £318,520 in 2009/10 to £325,523 in 2010/11.

OFMDFM provide the money “to increase cross-community contact and co-operation and to encourage mutual respect, understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.”
