PSNI introduce Rural Text Alert scheme

The Rural Text Alert Scheme allows Police to contact members of the community who have registered their mobile phone number with us.

Approved registered users will receive live text alerts (SMS) of relevant incidents in your area or neighbouring districts.

An example of an alert may be regarding the description of a stolen trailer or details of a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in a theft.

The police would strongly urge that registered users do not put themselves or others at risk by taking action themselves but that they contact police immediately if they have any information regarding any matter that is circulated.

There is no charge to receive the texts and the scheme could help prevent you or your neighbours becoming victims of crime.
