PSNI pledge to tackle car rallying at Davagh Forest

Cookstown PSNI has said it will be increasing patrols in and around Davagh Forest after reports of ‘rallying’ in the area.

And that anyone caught “participating” will be “robustly dealt with”.

“There have been a number of reports of ‘rallying’ in and around the Davagh Forest area,” the force said on its Facebook page on Friday.

“This behaviour causes a danger not only to pedestrians and other road users but also to those participating in such activity.”

Hitting out at the dangerous activity, they said the increased patrols will be targeting anyone behaving in such a way.

“Given the spiralling number of those killed and seriously injured on our roads, any such behaviour will be robustly dealt with,” a spokesperson added.

“There will be an increase in patrols to target those involved and to bring them before the courts.”
