PSNI tight-lipped on city UFOs

POLICE refused to provide information on the number of UFO sightings in Londonderry, Strabane and Limavady over the past five years for “cost” reasons.

The PSNI are remaining tight-lipped about strange lights in the sky in the North West because “the cost of complying...would exceed the ‘appropriate costs limit’” for a Freedom of Information request.

The police were asked for details of UFO sightings reported to the PSNI in Foyle, Strabane and Limavady during each of the last five years.

In a statement police advised: “PSNI recording systems do not have a specific Occurrence Code for this type of activity. To retrieve this information would require a manual search of every command and control serial without a recognised identifier.

“There are thousands of occurrences which have not been allocated an Occurrence Code and allowing a minimum search time of 8 hours per year would mean that it would take at least 40 hours to retrieve the requested information.”
