Public Meeting about Causeway A&E Unit

A PUBLIC meeting to organise a community action campaign to defend acute services at Causeway Hospital will take place on July 4th at 7.30pm in Coleraine Leisure Centre.

This meeting has been organised, by Causeway Trades Council, to take place following a meeting of the Northern Health Board where proposals for the future of Causeway Hospital will be discussed.

Trades Council Secretary Rodger Doherty said: “Numerous groups and individuals have contacted me expressing concern and wanting to fight to defend Causeway A&E.

“A broad-based community campaign encompassing all of the interests in this area is clearly the way to go.

“Therefore, Causeway Trades Council has facilitated this meeting to enable the whole community to agree on what action we will take.”

He called on everyone in the area to attend the meeting saying: “Whilst this meeting has been facilitated by the Trades Council, the campaign to save the hospital must be community led.

“Individuals, community groups, businesses and politicians - if you want to save Causeway Hospital then I urge you to come along and add your voice.”

The meeting is open to everyone in the catchment area (Coleraine, Ballymoney and Moyle Council areas) of the Causeway Hospital. Further details of the meeting will be released next week.
