A meeting will be held next Wednesday in the Courthouse at 4pm to discuss the Consultation proposals.

The Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service (NICTS) have launched a public consultation over proposals to reduce the current statutory Court Divisions from seven to three and close both Magherafelt and Limavady Magistrates Courthouses along with six other courthouses across Northern Ireland as a result of in-year budget reductions.

NICTS have estimated that revenue savings from closing both Magherafelt and Limavady Courthouses will be in the region of £84,837.

It is understood that NICTS plan to go ahead with the proposed plan to close Magherafelt Courthouse but as a result of the changes to local government, business will be transferred to Dungannon Courthouse rather than Antrim, which had been previously planned.

The consultation will run until mid-May and members of the public have been asked to respond by April 30, 2015.
