Public urged to help create vision for new Mid Ulster district

The new local authority, which takes responsibility for the services currently provided by Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt councils in April next year, is engaging with councillors, staff, key stakeholders and local people to gather opinions on how they feel about where they live and what their priorities are for the region.

Presiding Councillor (Chair) for Mid Ulster District Council, Cáthal Mallaghan, is encouraging local people to give their views:

“While there are clearly lots of issues, needs and priorities which all 3 council areas, have in common, each still has distinct and unique features. Creating a vision and a strategic identity which unites our new district is what we are seeking to achieve and this broad consultation to establish what is important to local people is a vital part of the process. I hope residents from Swatragh to Fivemiletown, from the Sperrins to the Loughshore and all points in between will take 10 minutes to complete the survey”.

The new website focusses on providing information about the work of the Council as it prepares to take responsibility for the services currently provided by Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt councils in April next year, and also provides contact information for the 40 councillors elected to serve the district.
