A star of the West End and many Hollywood films such as The Commitments, Pulp Fiction and Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Bronagh is offering a lucky few the chance to examine the works of Ireland's Nobel Laurette Seamus Heaney in a unique week of workshops in August.

The action packed summer also involves visits from comedian Jason Byrne, North Carolina theatre troupe Black Sheep Theatre, and award winning theatre company Prime Cut Productions.

The Playhouse's famous annual Children's Art Festival will also be returning for its 18th triumphant year.

The colourful and vibrant festival includes workshops in drama, dance, art, and for the first time ever, music and the digital arts.

The festival will finish off with an extraordinary showcase for all the family to enjoy on The Playhouse's 18th birthday on Friday, July 30.

"We are so excited to have so many brilliant events planned for our second summer in our brand new building," Niall McCaughan, general manager at The Playhouse, said.

"And we're especially pleased to have Prime Cut Productions return to The Playhouse stage with their new production of 'Vincent River' and Black Sheep Theatre bring their new play 'Witchwork' all the way from North Carolina."
