Punched her husband on head and face

A woman who punched her husband around the head and face was made the subject of a restraining order last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

And a condition of the order is that she is not allowed to enter Victoria Street in Lurgan.

Jeanette Khalid, whose address was given as Saintfield Road, Belfast, admitted two charges of common assault when she appeared at the court.

A public prosecutor said that on November 11 last year the injured party informed police that he had been assaulted by his wife who had punched him around the head and face when she had alcohol taken.

There were scratches to his arms.

He also claimed that on November 6 she had grabbed a knife and he felt frightened.

The prosecutor said they would be seeking a restraining order preventing the defendant from harassing the injured party.

A condition of the order is that she not to be in Victoria Street in Lurgan.

A barrister representing Khalid said there was no objection to the order.

She explained that this was the end of a relationship, there had been nothing since and the defendant would apologise for her actions.

The barrister added Khalid had moved out of the Lurgan area to Belfast.

Deputy District Judge Gerry Trainor said the offences were at the lower level in the scale of assaults and imposed a conditional discharge for 12 months.

He also imposed the restraining order for a period of two years.
