The ‘Blast Off’ study skills session was aimed at educating young people about their brain and learning. It is designed to help first formers make the transition from primary to secondary school.

During the workshop, pupils engaged in a series of activities based on memory techniques, multi-sensory learning, time management and revision strategies.

That evening, parents took part in a ‘Parent Power’ seminar aimed at enabling them to help their children develop essential study techniques.

Parent Carol Todd said: “This was a very interesting and worthwhile evening. I now will be able to help my daughter revise for tests and exams.”

Sandy Lindsay, head of year eight, added: “Pupils were engaged and taking part in all the various activities. A great experience for both pupils and parents.”
