Pupils are urged to get into the Olympic spirit

AS THE countdown towards the 2012 London Games really gears up, Dale Farm is encouraging schoolchildren across Newtownabbey to embrace the Olympic spirit and enter the Dale Farm '2012 Dreams' Sports Award design competition - giving them a chance to win thousands of pounds worth of sports equipment for their school.

The competition invites Primary 5, 6 and 7 children to think about what the Olympic Games mean to them and design a circular logo for the Dale Farm ‘2012 Dreams’ Sports Award - a high profile 5,000 bursary for a potential Olympian or Paralympic contender - which will be used on all ceremonial medals and branding for the initiative. Entrants are invited to draw inspiration from many areas including the 2012 Games, the history and origin of the Olympics and the connection between nutrition and sport.

The design competition is part of a wider campaign led by local business Dale Farm, inspiring people here to enter into the 2012 spirit through elite and grassroots sporting activity. The campaign will also feature Olympic themed sports days in association with the May Peters Trust, offering another chance for schools to win much-needed sports equipment.

The closing date for entries in the Dale Farm ‘2012 Dreams’ art competition is Friday, May 21. Further competition information is available by logging on to www.dalefarm.co.uk
