Pupils bringing Christmas cheer to the Atlas Centre

EIGHT GCSE Art and Design students recently visited the Atlas Centre in Lisburn to create a Santa’s Grotto for the Christmas crèche facility.

Working over their half-term holiday, the year 11 pupils at Friends’ School joined forces to support this local community facility.

Chloe Gilkinson, one of the young artists, was delighted to help. “The Atlas Centre helps families in the Lisburn area, so our art team thought we would offer our support. We all greatly enjoyed painting the Santa’s Grotto in the crèche for young children,” she said.

Atlas has a range of courses available and offers a crèche facility providing a warm, safe and friendly environment for young children to play, learn and socialise.

Shirl Foster, Creche leader was delighted with the artwork: “Atlas would like to thank the Art students at Friends’ School for designing Santa’s Grotto to use at our crèche. The girls worked really hard and also painted us a beautiful portable Christmas scene to use at our outreach facilities within the community.”
