Pupils enjoy a ghostly tale from visiting Titanic author

LARNE pupils enjoyed a reading from author Nichola Pierce whose much-praised debut novel is entitled “Spirit of the Titanic”.

Nicola grew up in Dublin and now divides her time between Drogheda and Belfast. She visited Larne to read to Year 8 and 9 pupils at Larne High School, with fellow students from Larne Grammar and St Killian’s also in attendance.

The event was organised by the John Hewitt Society and sponsored by Larne Borough Council.

The pupils heard Nicola read how 15-year-old Samuel Joseph Scott plunged to his death while building the Titanic and how he finds himself onboard the fated liner as a ghost.
