PUP’s Watton donates expenses to Poppy Appeal
PUP Causeway Coast and Glens councillor Russell Watton says he has donated his council expenses to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Watton’s actions come following a decision to give group leaders on the new council additional payments. He voted against the decision.
“I was one of those who voted against the motion that additional payments should be made to group leaders, “ said Watton. “As such I have donated my payment of £210 to the Coleraine Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. This was not done as a publicity stunt, indeed it was done prior to the media coverage of concerned comments - A fact which can be verified.”
The PUP councillor pointed out that since his election back in May he has not claimed any Council expenses.
