Put God in charge of your day

How do you start your day? In a rush, timed down to the second the length of time it takes to get out or are you very relaxed and laid back – up early with plenty of time for a leisurely breakfast, and a second cup of coffee before you start the day!

The first scenario is obviously a busy mum and/or a worker - the second must be retired!

However you do it – the most important thing to do is ask God to be in charge of your day.

When Jesus was teaching his followers how to pray he urged it to be with simplicity. He said “Find a quiet secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God and you will begin to sense His grace” Matt 6 The Message.

It goes on to outline the best known prayer on earth… “With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven. Reveal who you are. Set the world right. Do what’s best as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others, Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything you want! You’re ablaze in beauty”

That covers everything - but most of all it says “you’re in charge”. This doesn’t mean we won’t still meet difficult events, doesn’t mean that life will be a bed of roses, doesn’t mean that we just sit back and expect everything to be done for us. Instead it does mean that when hard times come God will uphold you, it does mean that you work together with God the Holy Spirit and become aware of His Grace to see you through.

So however you start your day it only takes a second to ask God to be in charge – it will make all the difference.
