‘Put heart and soul’ into community

Tribute was paid at the Carrickfergus in Bloom awards lunch to a stalwart member of Brighter Whitehead.

Alderman May Beattie, chairperson of the Parks, Countryside & Amenities sub-committee, told Town Hall guests that Canon Philip Bryan, who passed away in September aged 74, “put his heart and soul into all he did” for the award-winning community gardening team.

A former minister at St Bees Church of England, Cumbria, Canon Bryan was a member of Brighter Whitehead for a number of years. His funeral service took place at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland, Whitehead, on Friday, September 30.
