Quad and scrambler use plea

LONDONDERRY’S City North Neighbourhood Policing Team is trying to locate the following vehicles following reports of dangerous and anti-social driving.

Two small black scramblers ridden by older children on the Galliagh Linear Park around Ederowen and Leafair Park. Rider one was wearing a dark jacket, grey and white coloured helmet with a peak above the visor, navy tracksuit bottoms with light blue stripes and white and red trainers. Rider two was wearing dark clothing, a padded jacket and a red and white coloured helmet.

A white, faded red (faded to almost pink) and yellow quad ridden on the green area between Brookdale Park and Glencaw Park.

The rider was an adult male, with shaved or bald head, wearing a black fleece with neon green lettering on the back. The rider was carrying a small child/toddler on the front of the quad. Neither the rider nor the child was wearing a helmet.

The City North Team says it cannot stress enough the dangers presented to riders, passengers, pedestrians and motorists alike by the irresponsible and dangerous use of quads, mopeds and scramblers in our public areas.

“We want to appeal to parents particularly, to think of their children’s safety and the safety of other people. Our priority is to prevent a tragedy by getting these dangerous and unsuitable vehicles taken out of the community,” a spokesperson said.

Anybody with information about these vehicles should contact the Foyle City North Neighbourhood Team on 07585 979446.
