Outgoing Mayor Thomas Hogg and Councillor Pamela Barr were among the 170 attendees who took part in the quiz, hosted by former Countdown quiz champion Stewart Holden.

Organiser Michele Millar said: “We are thrilled to have raised over two thousand pounds for our charity through ticket sales, a raffle with prizes donated by many local businesses and food supplied by TAAJ Indian Restaurant in Jordanstown.”

An auction for a signed Northern Ireland Euro 2016 football shirt, donated by Art Restorers Ireland, was a highlight of the evening and added a further £420 to the total thanks to a winning bid from local businessman Neil Girvan.

The winning team answered 74 out of 90 questions correctly and took home trophies and bottles of wine. Cllr Hogg and his friends put in a respectable performance, finishing fourth out of the 28 teams that took part.

The evening was deemed “a huge success” and plans are already taking shape to do it all again next year.
