The defendant, who was an ‘R’ driver, admitted that he already had three points on his licence as a result of his speeding .

A barrister representing the defendant said his client’s previous conviction was inFebruary of this year.

He added that the latest offence happened on a long, straight stretch of road.

Blevins was in the outside lane and some vehicles were in the inside lane, the barrister told the court.

The case had been listed at last Wednesday’s court as a contest but on the day, the defendant changed his plea to guilty.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said she was a bit concerned that this was the defendant’s second speeding offence.

She added that the speed of 50mph in a 30mph zone was too high.

The district judge imposed a £150 fine.

She also ordered Blevins to pay a £15 offender’s levy and banned him from driving for four weeks.
