Charlotte Singh (20), Derriaghy Road, Lisburn, was also fined £100 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for excess speed on May 9 this year.

The court heard that she was detected travelling at 83mph in a 60mph zone on the A1. She was a restricted driver and should not have been driving at over 45mph.

A barrister representing the defendant said he was an industrious young lady who worked full time with her family in a mobile phone company.

He explained that she was returning home from work to babysit for one of her nieces and accepted that she was going too fast.

The lawyer added that she had no points on her licence but if she received six points within two years her licence would be revoked.
