Lewis McAdam has been impressing listeners since he first started broadcasting from his bedroom aged just 14.

The Larne High School pupil has already worked at five online community stations, including Carrickfergus FM.

Now, the budding DJ has brought his experience to a new 24/7 station called Radio Larne.

Depending on the success of his new project, Lewis is hopeful that Radio Larne could eventually serve as the successor to Chaine FM, which wound up last year.

In fact, the 17-year-old revealed that Chaine FM was what inspired him to become a radio presenter.

Explaining the concept of Radio Larne, Lewis said: “I am hoping to do a breakfast show and a magazine show where someone will come in or phone in and talk about the issues in Larne.

“Then we could go into drive time shows which would involve the community and what is happening in Larne.

“The station is currently broadcasting 24/7 with non-stop music until the launch, to give listeners a taste of what we will be playing.

“I have secured £2,500 worth of funding from O2’s Think Big scheme, which has helped me with set-up costs such as equipment, the website and the online licence.”

The station is ready to launch, all that is needed is a location for Lewis and his team of volunteers to use as a studio.

“All that we are looking for is at least a room, close to the Main Street for us to start up, so if you or know someone who could accommodate us please get in touch,” he added.

Lewis already has some volunteers lined-up as presenters, but some slots are still available. Anyone who would like to offer assistance or volunteer as a presenter can get in touch with Lewis at [email protected]
