RAF Association raises £9,500 from Lisburn donations

The Lisburn Branch of The Royal Air Force Association has thanked those who have supported its annual collection.

During the charity’s September appeal locals’ contributions added up to approximately £9,500.

This not only reached last year’s total but actually surpassed it.

In view of the present economic climate and the reliance of many other charities upon limited resources, this outcome has been a remarkable achievement.

A spokesperson for the Lisburn branch said: “While we would like to thank the members of the public who donated, we want to extend our thanks to the local businesses and organisations who collected.

“We are grateful to those who allowed as to collect in their buildings, to teachers and pupils of many local schools and to several nearby churhes.

“We must give deserving credit to the Cadets of Lisburn who gave up their Saturday to collect on our city’s streets.

“We are proud of our branch volunteers who gave up a lot of their time to collect tirelessly at those venues where the appeal took place.

“Well done and thanks to one and all.

“We look forward to September 2015 when it is our goal that we will again be able to rely on the local people of lisburn to top 2014’s outstanding performance.”

Every penny of this generous amount as well of that of collections from villages, towns and cities throughout the whole U.K allows the organisation to carry on it’s welfare work of helping past and present serving members of the Royal Air Force and their families.

Unfortunately, instead of casualties from war zones fading away, new areas of conflict are coming into existence.
