Raft Race Schools Colouring Competiton

THE Portrush Raft Race have launched the Morelli’s Ices Colouring Competition for primary schools in Portrush.

The acclaimed Portrush artist Alan Duke has exclusively sketched an outline of the Portrush Lifeboat and primary school pupils will be charged £1 to colour in the sketch, with the best ones being displayed in Morelli’s Ice cream shop in Portrush.

All four primary schools in Portrush are delighted to be joining in the fun with the deadline for entries April 26 - just four weeks before the main Raft Race event, and the start of the summer season on the North Coast.

Maryna Wylie, Chair of Portrush RNLI Raft Race Committee said: “We are thrilled that Alan Duke has designed a sketch exclusively for the committee to firstly promote the work of the volunteer lifeboat crew and to remind parents about the Raft Race taking place on their doorstep on the weekend of May 25-26.

“As this is a traditional family focussed weekend we really wanted the children of Portrush to get involved and help us promote our infamous Raft Race.

“To encourage you budding artists out there, our sponsors have generously provided the winner’s price of Morelli’s Ice-cream for a whole class.”

So far approximately 400 outline sketches have been delivered to schools, and a selection will be published on the Raft Race web page www.portrushraftrace.co.uk
