Ramble and roast at Oxford Island

OXFORD Island is the location for a 'Ramble and Roast' on Sunday morning.

Enjoy a ramble around the beautiful surroundings before enjoying a fabulous feast while taking in the stunning views of Lough Neagh.

Organised by Craigavon Borough Council’s Conservation and Heritage Service the ‘Ramble and Roast’ takes place on Sunday at 10.45am and is a very popular event so make sure you register soon.

The informal walk will leave from the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre and will take in the habitats and species of the nature reserve at Oxford Island, including the woods, ponds, lough and wildflower meadows.

Interpretative guides from the Centre will be leading the walk and talk which will include a visit to some of the bird hides with an opportunity to see the wide variety of species that visit the lough at this time of the year and learn more about their ecology.

After you have enjoyed the guided walk you will be able to head into the Loughside Cafe for one of their famous Sunday roast dinners with a vegetarian option also available.

“We ran this event last year and it was very well attended and everyone appreciated the chance to learn in more detail about the practical conservation work that goes on at the Centre and what plants and animals are present on-site,” said Education and Activities Officer Andy Griggs.

The cost for the event is 8 per adult and 5 per child. Tickets must be purchased in advance from Lough Neagh Discovery Centre and places are limited.
