Rape charge: Man to stand trial
A man accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a female who did not consent, on a date between January 1, 1988 and December 31, 1989, has been returned for trial to Londonderry Crown Court on August 25.
Douglas Frederick Ayton (64), from Donnybrewer Road, Eglinton, faces a further nine similar charges.
At a Preliminary Enquiry, when he asked if would like to say anything in answer to the charge or call witnesses, Ayton replied: “Not at this stage.”
The Public Prosecution Service submitted there was a Prime Facie case to answer.
