'˜Rare and distinctive car stolen'

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in Kells.

The Times understands that the theft took place on December 8, but details have only been made public by the police.

Commenting on the incident, Constable John Gibney said: “It was reported that sometime between 10:30am and noon on Thursday, December 8 entry was gained to a residential premises and items of jewellery were taken.

“A rare and very distinctive White Vauxhall Astra VXR with a personalised registration of A10FUN was also stolen. The lettering on the tyres of the vehicle were painted in red and white.

“We are appealing for anyone with information who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, may have seen a similar vehicle or have information about the incident to contact police at Ballymena PSNI on 101, quoting CCS 1386 of 08/12/16.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
