Rare dogs looking for new home

A PAIR of "very unusual" dogs are in need of a loving new home after their Islandmagee owner became too ill to look after them.

Six-year-old brothers Towser and Tyson are a rare breed - Norwegian Elkhound crossed with Irish Setter. Their owner was forced to make the difficult decision to give them up due to her declining health and they are now being cared for by North West Pet Rescue (NWPR) until they can be rehomed.

Kate Bond of NWPR described the animals as “gentle giants” and said they were “extremely affectionate”.

“Towser and Tyson would make fabulous companions”, she added. “Ideally, their new home would be in the Islandmagee area so they could still be close to their previous owner, but this is not essential.

“What is essential however is that they be rehomed together. They came from the same litter and to be separated now would be devastating for both of them.”

Kate said the pair of furry friends were very good with other dogs, cats and children. She added: “They are both neutered and mircochipped, excellent on the lead and are house trained.

“This is a great opportunity for dog lovers to take in a couple of very special animals and give them a good home.”
