Rasharkin’s Colleen signs up to ‘Runher’

Local women are being encouraged to hit the ground running and take part in Belfast Telegraph Runher’s second Titanic 10k event on Sunday 4th October - just like Rasharkin runner Colleen McErlaine.

A new 5k route has also been introduced alongside the 10k event and both take in iconic views, locations and roads close to Titanic Belfast and the Slipways, Harland and Wolff cranes, Victoria Park and the Sam Thompson Bridge.

Colleen from Rasharkin has joined a team of ten women selected to take part in a Runher special training programme. The ladies are following a weekly training plan which is also available online to help individuals or teams prepare to the best of their ability and achieve a personal best on 4 October.

Colleen is an accountant with Ulster Bank and started running three years ago and has completed four half marathons. “I love the buzz I get after a good run and it’s a great way to keep fit and healthy – in body and mind! I really enjoyed the Runher Coastal Challenge and am thrilled to be of the new Runher Training team!”

As per previous years there will be a pre-Runher ‘Dash 4 Kids’ (under 10s)at 1.15pm. It will be followed by the Belfast Telegraph Runher 5K event at 2pm and the 10K at 2.45pm. All three events begin at Titanic Slipways adjacent to Titanic Belfast complex. Belfast Telegraph Runher operates under UK Athletics and Athletics NI rules.
