Rathfern bus service won’t be extended

Translink has turned down a request to extend the 2H Metro bus service, which passes through Rathfern en route to Belfast city centre, to include weekends.

In response to lobbying from North Belfast DUP MLA Paula Bradley, Translink has stated that the current level of patronage would not justify extension of the service.

“My colleague, Cllr Thomas Hogg, and I recently made representations to Translink in support of a weekend extension to the 2H service. Following our request Translink undertook to carry out a review of the current service.

“Regrettably, Translink has stated that the current level of patronage is not of a level that would justify the introduction of a Saturday or Sunday service,” Ms Bradley explained.

“Translink has agreed to review this service again in the future, depending on passenger demand, and I am calling on residents to support this service to ensure that it is retained and extended in the future.”
