Rathfriland matching it's selective counterparts

RATHFRILAND High School has achieved outstanding results once again.

New school Principal, Mr Brian Wilson, said, "It is very encouraging to note that this non-selective Secondary School is performing at a level equal to many of the selective schools in our province.

"A 96% pass rate for students achieving five or more grades A-C, 78% achieving seven grades A*-C, demonstrates both the high calibre of students and the competence of the teachers and places Rathfriland High School as one of the most successful schools of its kind this year.

"As the incoming Principal I am in the very pleasing position to be able congratulate all the pupils on the excellent results they have achieved and to thank the staff and parents for their high level of work and commitment.

"It is only possible to highlight a small number of the pupils who’s overall performance clearly demonstrates the high quality of education provided in our school: Lauren Truesdale - 9A* and 2A; Adam Kinley (Head Boy) - 7A*, 1A and 3B; Rachael McMinn (Deputy Head Girl) - 4A*, 6A and 1B; Linda Cochrane (Head Girl) - 4A*, 5A and 2B; Lois Bingham (Senior Prefect) - 2A*, 5A and 4B."

He added, "Rathfriland High School is an innovative, friendly and growing school which caters for all abilities and which has a very strong reputation at ensuring success for all its pupils. I look forward to building on the excellent leadership which is clearly evident and reflected in this and previous year’s performances."
