Reading initiative at school

PUPILS and parents at St Brendan's Primary School were given a paired reading session on improving a child's literacy skills.

Mrs Maureen McConville attended the primary school to host the event.

‘Paired Reading’ is a proven simple method of improving children’s reading skills.

Mrs McConville gave instruction to parents on how to best achieve this with their child at home.

This was a primary four year group initiative and will last until Easter.

A marvellous selection of books was made available for the children to take home. Many children on this programme can improve reading age by one year over the eight week period.
